My first thought upon seeing the ads for NYC 22 was that I’d seen this show before. In fact I enjoy it. It’s a Canadian show called Rookie Blue. And after watching the first several episodes of NYC 22 that initial hunch seems right. This is Rookie Blue but not as well written or executed.
That’s not to say it’s bad. It’s actually pretty watchable and might stand out a bit more if there wasn’t a show that was practically the same show on already that was doing a fine job of it. I could also make a bit of a comparison to Southland, where that show is more city specific much like NYC 22 is.
I honestly don’t have a lot to say about NYC 22. It’s a decent show. I’ve been watching it and haven’t wanted to stop watching it or change the channel during it. There’s some great actors involved and all are doing good jobs. There’s nothing specifically bad. But there’s nothing really worth specific praise either. Overall it’s just average. But it could be worth a watch to see if it’s for you.
NYC 22 airs at 10PM on Sunday on CBS as of this writing.
