Sherlock Holmes BBC Miniseries

Sherlock is brought to us by Steven Moffat, the man who brilliantly updated the story of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde a few years back with Jekyll, and who is currently in charge of Dr. Who. This time he’s taking on the worlds most famous detective. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson. This is no period piece. Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel is a BBC/HBO Films co-production that I just got a chance to watch.  Apparently it got a UK release but no US release yet.  It’s about 3 guys who work at an amusement park.  When the movie opens we see one of them losing their jobs.  They then go to the local pub to talk about movies.  In one of the funnier scenes they are writing a letter to Hollywood on how to stop making crap movies.  The final line is “More Firefly and/or Serenity”.  You can pretty much tell this one’s for the nerds.  It’s a good thing I’m a nerd then.  Basically one of the group is obsessed with time travel and thinks his friends are playing a joke on him when he goes to buy a round of drinks and meets a girl who claims to be from the future.  She says he’s famous there and lays out some stuff for later on.  Of course none of his friends believe him, until one of them goes to the bathroom.  When he comes out he discovers everyone in the bar is dead, including a version of himself.  He runs back into the bathroom and when he comes out everything is back to normal and he’s now a very scared believer.
