Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect is about Beca (Kendrick; Scott PilgrimUp In The Air) an aspiring DJ whose forced to attend college by her father, who’s a professor and as such gets free tuition for his daughter. There she is discovered by an a cappella group in decline, The Barden Bellas, after a disgrace at their last finals appearance. She’s recruited into the strict group along with a bunch of other “characters” such as Fat Amy (Wilson; BridesmaidsBachelorette). It’s loosely based on the book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory by Mickey Rapkin.

Step Up Revolution

Step Up Revolution is about Emily (McCormick) who moves to Miami to get into a prestigious dance company. While there she meets the leader of a dance group called “The Mob” that stages intricate dance flash mobs around town hoping to win a YouTube contest. But when their neighborhood is threatened by a developer their dances become more about a message than entertainment.

The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final installment in director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.  It takes place 8 years after the events of The Dark Knight, in a Gotham where Batman’s name is mud after he took the blame for Harvey Dent’s actions, allowing the public to believe in the good things Dent stood for.  Perhaps one of the most anticipated films in recent memory, The Dark Knight Rises features Catwoman (Hathaway; Love & Other Drugs) joining with Batman and taking on legendary Batman villain Bain (Hardy; Inception). But before he can do any of this, he must start from scratch and rebuild himself.

The Avengers

The Avengers is the culmination of a multiple film and year build up by Marvel and Universal.  When earth is threatened by Loki, various heroes must unite to fight to save it and put their individual problems aside to work together.  It’s both written and directed by Joss Whedon with an all-star cast.

Chronicle

Chronicle is about Andrew (DeHaan), a teenager who’s having a really bad time in life.  His mom has cancer and his dad is an alcoholic.  At school he’s bullied and everyone thinks he’s a loser.  The only person in his life is his much more popular cousin Matt (Russell).  Andrew starts filming his entire life, using the camera as a buffer between him and the real world.  One night at a party he’s dragged to, Andrew, Matt, and popular jock Steve (Jordan; Friday Night Lights) find something weird in a field that leaves them with telekinetic powers.  Suddenly things start changing in all their lives.

Moneyball

Moneyball is the true story of Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane (Pitt; Seven, Fight Club) who needs to improve his team if they ever hope to get into the championships and keep his job.  The problem he faces in the modern age of professional sports is that his team doesn’t have a lot of money and can’t compete with bigger budget teams like the Yankees.  He finds statistician Peter Brand (Hill; Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) who has ideas about how a team can win using lower priced players that have been written off for one reason or another.  He takes a chance on this new system despite having to fight with everyone around him who is set on using traditional methods of playing ball.  The movie is based off the book( Moneyball - Michael Lewis) of the same name by Michael Lewis.

Shark Night

Shark Night (aka Shark Night 3D) is a horror movie about 7 college students who set off on a weekend vacation at one of their lake houses on the Louisiana Gulf.  This particular house is only accessible by boat and is totally surrounded by water.  But this water has become filled with all types of vicious sharks and soon the college kids are fighting to survive.

Crazy, Stupid, Love

Crazy, Stupid, Love is a romantic dramady featuring a few interconnected stories of love.  In one a man’s (Carell; Date Night) wife cheats on him and asks for a divorce and a playboy (Gosling; Drive) tries to teach him how to re-enter the single world.  Meanwhile his son has a crush on the babysitter who has a crush on the dad.  And then there’s the law student (Stone; Easy A) who thinks she’s ready to get engaged, but maybe things aren’t where she expects.

Bart Got A Room

Bart Got A Room is about Danny (Kaplan) who is trying to find a date for prom.  His search gets more frantic when he learns the school’s biggest dork, Bart has not only got a date but also a hotel room for the big night.  He’s helped in his quest by his divorced parents (Macy & Hines) who are both looking for new relationships of their own.  In the process he neglects his long time best friend Camille (Shawkat; Arrested Development).

Source Code

Source Code is a mysterious, suspenseful, action film with a bit of a twist to it.  A soldier (Gyllenhaal; Donnie Darko) awakens in a dark pod.  He doesn”t remember how he got there.  He”s told by another soldier named Goodwin (Farmiga; Up In The Air) on a video screen that it is his mission to travel into the “source code” and find out who is responsible for blowing up a train in Chicago earlier that morning.  The twist is that he is another person on the train and he can only go back 8 minutes at a time.  So he must solve the crime by re-living the same 8 minutes over and over.  And he must also figure out where he is and what has happened to him.
