The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final installment in director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy.  It takes place 8 years after the events of The Dark Knight, in a Gotham where Batman’s name is mud after he took the blame for Harvey Dent’s actions, allowing the public to believe in the good things Dent stood for.  Perhaps one of the most anticipated films in recent memory, The Dark Knight Rises features Catwoman (Hathaway; Love & Other Drugs) joining with Batman and taking on legendary Batman villain Bain (Hardy; Inception). But before he can do any of this, he must start from scratch and rebuild himself.

Why Does Batman Carry Shark Repellent?

Why Does Batman Carry Shark Repellent? And Other Amazing Comic Book Trivia is a new book from Brian Cronin (creator of the blog Comics Should Be Good) where he makes use of various lists to extol various bits of random comic book trivia.  Some of these are by him, others are created from polls at the site Comic Book Resources (such as “Best Marvel Characters”), and then other lists are by comic creators, writers, illustrators, and more involved in the industry and love of comics.  Some of these additional list makers include legends like Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons, and Geoff Johns.

The Avengers

The Avengers is the culmination of a multiple film and year build up by Marvel and Universal.  When earth is threatened by Loki, various heroes must unite to fight to save it and put their individual problems aside to work together.  It’s both written and directed by Joss Whedon with an all-star cast.

Thor

Thor is about a warrior (Hemsworth; Star Trek) who is cast out of his realm of Asgard by his father (Hopkins; The Silence of The Lambs) after disobeying him and sent to earth to live as a human without his powers.  There he is found by a scientist (Portman; Black Swan) and her team (Dennings; Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist; Stellan Skarsgård, Boogie Woogie).  Meanwhile his brother Loki is up to tricks back home.

X-Men: First Class

X-Men: First Class is a prequel to the X-Men movies taking place during the 1960””s and showing how the X-Men came to be.  A young Erik Lensherr (Fassbender; Inglorious Basterds), who would become Magneto, joins with a young Charles Xavier (McAvoy; Wanted) to recruit others of their type and ultimately to stop a madman (Bacon) from causing a nuclear war.

Super

Super is the latest film from writer/director James Gunn (Slither).  It’s about a man (Wilson; The Office) who has a vision and decides to become a super hero after his wife (Tyler; Empire Records) leaves him for the local drug kingpin (Bacon; Wild Things).

The Cape

The Cape is a new action superhero based series about a cop (David Lyons; ER) who is framed for a series of crimes by super criminal “Chess” (James Frain; The Tudors).  He recovers using the help of a circus full of thieves led by Max Malini (Keith David; The Job, Spawn) and is trained to become his son’s favorite comic book hero “The Cape”.  Along the way he also has the help of the mysterious “Orwell” (Summer Glau; Firefly).  Every week he does battle with a different baddie hired by Chess while trying to regain his life and family and prevent Chess from taking over the city.
