Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory

Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory is the final film in a trilogy that has gone on for almost 20 years by Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger. Paradise Lost – The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills and Paradise Lost 2 – Revelations both previously took us into the case of the West Memphis 3, three teenagers (at the time) who were charged and convicted of murdering 3 small boys in a horrific manner and the many miscarriages of justice that occurred during the case.  This 3rd film brings us back to West Memphis, Arkansas 10 years after the last one and updates us on things some of the greatest law enforcement minds in the world have discovered about the case.

Suits

Suits is a new series from USA Network about a genius (Patrick J. Adams; Weather Girl) who accidentally finds himself recruited by a shark of a lawyer (Gabriel Macht; Love and Other Drugs, Grand Theft Parsons) to become his associate at a top New York firm.  The only problem is he doesn’t even have a college degree.

Franklin & Bash

Franklin & Bash is a new legal show (another one?) from TNT about 2 not so by the book lawyers (Gosselaar & Meyer) who are running their own ambulance chasing practice with the help of a few wacky characters when they manage to win a big case and get hired by one of the cities largest law firms.  Now they’re two fish out of water who are helping the firm do things differently.

Fairly Legal

Fairly Legal is the latest original series from the usually high quality USA Network. It stars Sarah Shahi (Life, The L Word) as ex-lawyer turned mediator Kate Reed and picks up right after her father’s death, which Kate is still coping with.  Making her life complicated are her step mother and current boss Lauren (Virginia Williams; How I Met Your Mother) and her ex-husband, current District Attorney Justin (Michael Trucco; Battlestar Galactica).  Kate must balance her personal life while she tries to find the perfect outcome to the disputes that come her way.

Harry’s Law

Harry’s Law is David E. Kelley’s (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Public) new legal series.  This time he focuses on legendary patent lawyer Harriet Korn (Kathy Bates) who is burnt out and winds up starting her own law firm out of a shut down shoe store in a bad Cincinnati neighborhood.  She is taking on criminal and civil cases unlike anything she’s ever had to do where people’s lives are actually in the balance.  She is no longer working for the money, but to do what’s right.  She’s joined by Nathan Branch (Nate Corddry), a rising star at a big law firm who quits to join her practicing this down and dirty law and her assistant Jenna (Brittany Snow).
