Worst Laid Plans: When Bad Sex Happens To Good People is a compilation of short essays from a wide variety of actors and comedians, and just some regular people about some hilariously bad sexual experiences.  It’s based on a show at the Upright Citizens Brigade started by Alexandra Lydon and Laura Kindred.

 

I first discovered this book through an excerpt published on Nerve.  That excerpt happened to be Alison Brie’s story.  If you’re a regular reader of Media Decay you know I love Alison Brie (she of Community & Mad Men).  Her story is actually one of the standouts of the book.  In it she discusses how she attended art school and was quite fond of sex (yes this story will make you drool) and how her good friend though he was gay and she tried to have sex with him to make sure.  The story goes from kinda sexy to flat out hilarious in no time and is a simple, quick read that will stick in your head.

 

That’s how a lot of the book is.  Very short tales that are memorable and allow you to pick it up, read a story, and then go about doing other things thoroughly entertained.  The book features many other people of note like Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Beth Littleford (The Daily Show), Laraine Newman & Casey Wilson (Saturday Night Live), Boti Bliss (CSI: Miami), and Whitney Cummings (Chelsea Lately).  There’s a lot more contributors, but I’ve only got so much space and time.

 

Anyway this little book more than entertained me and I just wanted more.  Can we get another one out already? You will read about some truly bad sexual experiences and since they didn’t happen to you, you’ll be laughing the whole time.  Never is this book dragged down.  It just keeps getting better.  I highly recommend picking this up.
