Deep in the Valley – Movie Review

Deep In The Valley is a comedy written and directed by Christian Forte. It stars Chris Pratt (Parks & Rec) and Brendan Hines (Lie To Me) as a pair of friends who win an old peep show machine that transports them to an alternate universe where the porn clichès are real. Basically it’s a porn universe. They soon wind up running from two porn stars who thing they’re cops while being helped by two others (one of whom is the lovely Rachel Specter).

This seems like just another sex comedy but actually shocked me by being really good. First off the two leads are just great. Pratt & Hines are highlights of their respective shows and both show off their talent here as well. Then there’s other actors like Scott Caan and the always reliable Christopher McDonald putting in more great work. There’s also cameos by Kim Kardashian and Denise Richards
Don’t be fooled though, this isn’t really a raunchy film. There’s innuendo but that’s really the extent. I mean it’s certainly for adults only but I don’t even remember any nudity (although there is an R and an unrated version and I’m not sure which one I saw).
The premise is actually very original and lots of fun, and is made more so by excellent art direction. If you’ve ever seen a cheesy 80′s porn you’ll realize they recreate that world perfectly.
Overall I really enjoyed this movie and I think it’s worth a watch. You can get it on dvd through Amazon:
Or through Amazon VODand of course on
