A Night of 140 Tweets – Review

Night Of 140 Tweets

On March 12, 2010 a whole bunch of “celebrities” gathered at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in L.A. to read one tweet of theirs each out loud.  To perform it if you will.  This was done in the name of charity, to raise money to build schools in Haiti.  Recently this Night of 140 Tweets was released for download, with a dvd forthcoming, with the money from both of those also going to charity.

I downloaded this the other day (I paid my $2.99 – please do not go pirating this, it’s a fundraiser for a good cause and to not contribute would just be very wrong) and just got to watching it today.  As someone who loves Twitter and spends a ton of time on there I was already pretty excited to see this.  I was a little let down by the fact that it’s only a half hour long, it’s so entertaining you just want it to keep going.

No matter who you are you’re bound to find someone in this that’ll catch your interest, and if you don’t know who some of the people are by name you’ll certainly recognize them from film or tv.  There’s all different types of entertainers, comedians, writers, actors, musicians, even porn stars.  Think of it as watching a bunch of really interesting people doing standup but only a one line joke.  Some of the awesome people included Media Decay faves Garfunkel & Oates, a bunch of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia cast members, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Huebel, Ben Stiller (who organized the event), Demi Moore, Sarah Silverman, and just tons more that would take forever to list.  One of the cool things is if you hear someone say something funny and want to follow them their Twitter name is right on screen instead of their actual name (those are in the credits though for reference).  I hear the dvd version will also include a bunch of pre-taped or skyped tweets that aren’t included in the downloadable version.

Overall I have to say go and get this right this second.  You can download it on A Night of 140 Tweets: A Celebrity Tweetathon for Haiti - A Night of 140 Tweets: A Celebrity Tweetathon for Haiti

or on Amazon Video On Demand

There’s also the dvd available exclusively from Amazon:
