We’re only 5 episodes into this season, but for some reason it seems so much more than that doesn’t it?  Last week’s “Next on…” seemed to promise an episode focusing a lot on Erika and also some Josh getting into girl trouble.  Last week’s “Next on…” lied.  I am very angry Real World.  I wanted a ton of Erika and you gave me more Emily and Ty crap?  Not even new Emily and Ty stuff but the same stuff that’s been said in every other episode just again?  I hate you Real World.  I hate you so hard.  So yeah there’s a lot of Emily and Ty being Emily and Ty and not adding anything new to that story at all so I’m gonna not recap them in this episode.  I hope no one has a problem with that.  If you do, go read the recaps of the other episodes and you’ll have the same stuff as is here.  Repeated ad nauseum.  Also for the very first time on Media Decay I’m gonna try to bring you some video on this post.  Let me know if it’s working alright for you.

The episode starts with Josh talking to his girlfriend Ashley.  She misses him and is apparently coming to visit soon.  Josh confesses she came along at a time in his life where he was losing everything and just made it better.

The next morning Josh receives a call from his mom.  She asks him if he knows who Ritchie is and says his girlfriend has been running around trying to hook up with him.  That she was kissing him in some bar.  When asked who she heard this from she says:

I can’t say a name and I won’t.

OK.  First off, way to be all getting too involved in your son’s relationship mom.  Second, why won’t you tell who you got this info from?  Is this the mafia or something?  You have a protected source for your info about who your son’s girlfriend is making out with?  This phone call is so weird.  It is followed by Josh calling his girlfriend and asking her about it.

Josh is a real douche on this phone call.  He starts out asking her multiple times if she has anything she needs to tell him and interrogating her about what she was doing over the weekend.  He outright assumes she’s cheating on him without giving her any chance at all.  She basically didn’t need to be on the phone since he wouldn’t listen to anything she was saying.  He gets angry and says he “doesn’t know if he can do this” and hangs up.

Josh decides the rational thing to do after a fight is to go get your nose pierced.  Because that makes perfect sense.  He tells Ty, who is accompanying him, that part of the problem is:

She’s known but I’m known known, know what I’m sayin?

No Josh, no I have no clue what you are saying.  Are you saying you’re famous?  Because you’re not.  Especially at this point in time when this show wasn’t even airing.  Maybe with this on the air you may enjoy the very smallest level of “fame”, but no dude, no one knows what you’re saying.

Josh goes through with the piercing because “he wants the pain”.  I should also mention this is really the first time we’re seeing a decent amount of Josh since the series began.  He’s been relegated to the background and not doing much so we’re finally finding out he too is pretty crazy.

Back home he shows off a picture of his girlfriend and says they’ve been dating for 3 years.

In the next scene Erika explains that “a band her old band has played on a show with before” named Eye Alaska wants to hang out with the girls that night.  The girls go and look up pictures of them.

The girls get very excited that they’re going to hang out with a band.  This other band called The Cab is also going to be there.  Both Ashley and Callie want to sleep with The Cab.  Erika is so excited about The Cab because “she has them on her iPod”.  I’ve never heard of them but they look like they probably suck.  Anyway one of the dudes obviously is trying to hook up with her and tells her to come to their show tomorrow and they’ll play one of her songs.

When they get home Erika calls her boyfriend Ian and tells him the news.  He sounds very unexcited (probably because he’s smart and knows this dude is trying to hook up with her).

The next day Josh’s girlfriend has arrived.

So I guess they didn’t break up after all.  Mike says she’s like a real person but pocket sized, cause she’s so short.  There’s a lot of kissing.

Moving on, elsewhere in the house Ashley (the cast member, not the girlfriend) is talking with Callie about drunk dialing people.  Apparently they both have people  they call when they’re drunk to hook up with.

For Callie it’s an ex named Cash.  Apparently Callie is attracted to buttheads, according to everyone.  She says she won’t call him ever again though.

It time for Erika to get ready to sing! She complains about being sick and her voice being off.  I complain that she’s using excuses.  She arrives at the rather large venue (is this band actually famous?  I’ve seriously never heard of them).  I actually believe this is the famous 9:30 Club where many awesome concerts have happened.  They rehearse and Erika says the song is about being broken up with.

Then it’s showtime.

Ouch.  That was horrible.  And what’s up with the feedback?  OK so the video isn’t exactly working. I can hear sound but don’t see the video. Please let me know what your experience is. I have no clue why it’s doing this. Anyway at least you should be able to hear it (hypothetically you should see it too).

In the meantime Josh is taking his lady out for dinner.

They hardcore make out at the table and it’s gross and then she drops some unsubtle hints about getting married. Josh says marriage ruins things.

The girls have arrived back home with at least one of the bands.  Callie shows one guy her photos and is looking to hook up with him.  He goes to pee and she asks Erika if he has a girlfriend and she says he does and Callie says that he told her he didn’t.  Maybe he broke up with his girlfriend since he last saw Erika?  We’ll never know.

Josh puts his girlfriend back on a bus to Philly.

That night Callie and some of the rest of the gang go out to a bar.  She’s flirting with a guy and asks if he has a girlfriend.

He does.  Why were you flirting then douchebag?  So she returns home and drunk dials Cash.

She admits that she’s “sooo drunk”.  Emily tells her to get off the phone with him.  Eventually she does.  Emily and Ty are both pretty tough on her for calling the douche.  Like way too hard.  She starts crying.  The next day Callie and Emily have a conversation.

Emily is kind of a jerk and doesn’t want to listen.  Callie says she feels like she’s being attacked about this one thing and it’s unfair when Callie doesn’t call Emily out about half of her shit with Ty.

That night Josh is out at the club creeping on some chick.  He brings her home.

Emily says Josh is stupid and ruining his relationship.  And eww btw cause she’s like 30.  OMG Emily seriously?  Anyway because they’re all adults Emily goes to spy and sees them making out.  MTV’s awesome camera people who are supposed to get every second of these people’s lives but missed Emily spitting on Ty’s face also miss this and only get this:

Not making out.

The girl winds up leaving.  Erika says she feels that Josh is a scumbag.  The wonderful camera people do catch Josh giving the girl a kiss on the cheek (harmless) on her exit.

When he comes back in the house Emily confronts him about it and he denies making out with the girl.

Josh calls his girlfriend and when she asks what he was doing he tells her he was eating and “got caught up in conversation”.

Oh alright so I’ll cover one little bit of Emily/Ty stuff.  He tells her once again in a bar that he loves her and she reacts the same way as before.

So now it’s another day and Josh’s girlfriend calls.  She asks him why there’s pictures on the internet of him making out with some girl.  He tries making up poor excuses like “I don’t remember” and trying to change the subject.  It’s pretty bad.  He says that if she hooked up with someone else he’d flip out and break up with her, but she can’t expect him to be in this situation and not do anything about it.  Wow.  Josh is king of douches.  He tells his girlfriend they need to take a break.  Then he hangs up on her.  Josh is a winner.

Next on… It appears that Andrew freaks the fuck out on Ashley, but also seems very, very edited to make it look like something happens that doesn’t.
