Everything Else

Alright here it is at last.  The final part of our inaugural Holiday Must Have list.  We hope you find some great gift ideas somewhere in this massive pile of stuff and that you make those you care for smile when they open the awesome gift you bought them.  If you haven’t already check out the previous parts: Movies, TV, & Music.  Remember to click the links to go to the page of that product. And now without further adieu, the finale:

Amazon Kindle The Kindle is totally on my X-Mas list. E-book’s and readers for them have been around for well over a decade now but it’s not until this device that they really became viable. The books are much cheaper than their paper counterparts, it has text to speech capabilities so it can read to you, a wide array of available books and publications, and you can use their free wireless service to buy new books wherever there is cell service and sync between your mac, pc, iphone, and kindle. Rumor is Apple is launching a tablet next year that might be competition but who knows what exactly that device will be for.

iPod Touch or Nano The newest iPods out there will make even current iPod owners happy. The 32 and 64 GB iPod touches are faster than the last generation and also feature voice controls. The new Nano’s are available in tons of different colors (only a selection of the available colors are represented above) and have built in video cameras.

Nintendo Wii Everyone loves the Wii. The rumor is there’s a new Wii 2 coming out next year with a built in Blu-ray player but until then there’s this. It’s fun for the whole family and old school gamers can download old NES, SNES, and Genesis games to play on it.

Wii Fit If you have a Wii, you’ve gotta get the Wii Fit. It’s awesome and great for some older folks on your list.

X-Box 360 This one’s available in 3 flavors – Arcade, 120GB Elite Holiday Bundle, & 250GB Elite Limited Edition Modern Warfare 2 Edition. Either way if you’ve got a gamer that doesn’t own one, you’ll be their favorite person.

BTW I’ve already listed my preferred console the Playstation 3 in the Movies list due to its superior movie playability. Be sure to check that out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 This is one of the must have games of the year and it’s available on the PC, XBox 360, and PS3. There’s also an awesome, much more expensive edition that includes real nightvision goggles.

Left 4 Dead 2 Another must have videogame for the Xbox 360 and PC. This one finds you a survivor after the world becomes filled with zombies.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves This is a great Playstation 3 game that plays like an Indiana Jones movie. It’s got a killer multiplayer mode as well for when you’re done working your way through the beautiful, realistic scenery and pulse pounding plot.

LEGO Indiana Jones Temple Escape This isn’t new and should go in the movies section of the Holiday Must Haves but it slipped my mind. I have personally wanted this set for years, but I’m too poor to afford it. It is a LEGO recreation of the entire famous opening of Raiders of The Lost Ark. Kids will love building and playing with the LEGO’s, and adults will love the nostalgia in reliving one of the greatest cinematic scenes ever.

I Drink For A Reason by David Cross David Cross is a brilliant comedian and here in this book he collects a ton of great, mostly new material. Perfect for anyone who loves comedy. Also available in a hilarious audiobook with Cross reading himself.

Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk This is the latest book by Palahniuk, most famous for Fight Club. This book is written in the form of missives from a terrorist reporting back to his homeland (we’re never told where that is) on his mission in America posing as an exchange student. It’s often hard to read and Palahniuk is known for challenging his readers, but like many of his books this is a wonderful skewering of American society that you will enjoy, although it will take you some time to get through.

buffyseason8

Buffy Season 8 Comics If you’ve got a Buffy fan on your list they may not have picked up the wonderful Season 8 series of comics that are still being released monthly. The one above is the collection of the first story arc of the season, intended to be the official 8th season of the television show and written by the shows actual writers and guided by Joss Whedon himself. You can find all the collected arcs as well as individual issues over at Things From Another World

powers1

Powers #1 Powers is a great comic series by one of comic’s best writers Brian Michael Bendis. All of the previous issues are available in Trade paperbacks and can be found at Things From Another World, but the series just restarted again with new monthly issues, and this is the first of those. Perfect for comic book fans.

Well that’s all for this year. Hopefully you find some cool stuff to buy for yourself or others and hopefully you use our links and throw some support behind the site as well. Comment and let us know how you like our lists and maybe we’ll do it again next year.
