Where do I begin?

I’ve  been playing video games for quite a long time. There are the games that you play, and then there are games that you live. Uncharted 2 is one of those games that you need to live.

It’s been 2 years since the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released. The first game led us through an intense adventure as Nathan Drake. The new game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, indeed takes us a step further and gives us the greatest adventure game of all time and a definite contender to the greatest games of all time …..period.

The player is quickly and deeply immersed in a world that is brought to life with spectacular graphics and uncompressed sound that needs to be experienced.

The adventure action is non-stop, whether you’re in the middle of a shootout against dozens of bad guys or you’re climbing ledges and sides of buildings. In-game visuals and CG cut scenes blend seamlessly which at times makes you wondering if you’re part of the movie that’s playing out in front of you. I can’t count how many times this games has led me thru a long action scene, mixing user-controlled play, quick-time like events and CD and actually forced me to drop my controller in my lap, sit back,  wipe the sweat off my palms and take a deep breath before I’m able to move onto the next chapter of the story.

The story, like the original Uncharted, has many twists and turns along the way. You’ll question who your friends and enemies are. I haven’t quite finished the single player mode, but it looks like it clocks in at about 12 hours.

After you’ve completed the single player, it’s time to hop online into 5-5 games where you play as characters in the game battling friends in death match and capture the flag games similar to those found that are found in other games. Graphics in the multiplayer game lose very little detail and once again make for an immersive and beautiful experience. Developers Naughty Dog didn’t just tack on a multiplayer component, this is a full fleshed out multiplayer game similar in quality and depth to Call of Duty.

If you consider yourself to be a gamer, you must play this game. If you don’t own a PS3, there is no longer an excuse to not have one. Go and buy one, this game is that good. It will set the standard for all games for the next few years, or until Naughty Dog brings us Uncharted 3.
