I’d like to officially welcome you to Media Decay! This site is about everything in your media life.  There’s a lot of stuff floating around out there and I know there are actually people with lives out who are too busy to watch every tv show, go to every movie, listen to every album, read every book, script, and comic, play every video game or see every concert.  That’s gonna be the job of the people writing this site.  We’ll ingest as much as we can and offer them back in 2 styles: Recommendations & Reviews.

Reviews will be what they sound like, reviews as fleshed out as the writer feels like.  We’ll even give you our personal thoughts about things that might have effected our review.  This kind of personal info I feel is important because we’re not living in a vacuum here.  We all have experiences that will alter how we feel about something.  You’ll also find a box at the bottom of every post giving you some info on the person who wrote it. Also our reviews aren’t just limited to huge releases or the newest things out.  If we saw a little indie movie that barely has distribution (or doesn’t) we may choose to review that.  You can even send your stuff to us for possible review (more on that later).  If we read a book that was published years ago just a couple of weeks ago then maybe we’ll write up a review for that.  We don’t have many limitations here.

 

Recommendations will work a little differently.  They’re things that the writer wants to share with the world.  For example if I love a band and I think a lot of other people would love them as well but maybe haven’t been exposed to them, I’ll write a recommendation and give you some info on the band and some samples of their stuff and make and attempt to explain why I love them.  Basically recommendations are things we already love and want to share as opposed to a review which can be positive or negative.  Also some things don’t call for a review and just a total recommendation.

 

But we want you to get involved as well.  While currently it’s just me running this whole machine, I will be looking for a bunch more contributors to share on their own time.  Also this is a totally interactive site.  We welcome all of your comments and hope to have lively discussions of our reviews & recs.  You can also get in touch with us and tell us about something you think we should check out.  Or if you made something and want to send it to us to check out, we’re cool with that too. You’ll notice you can rate every post so if you like something, give it a good rating.
